Description:

We are medical, dental, audiological professionals and laypersons that desire to bring Jesus' healing touch to the bodies and souls of Juarez, Mexico.

Our faith in Christ, love for one another, and medical expertise affords the unique opportunity to breath life into Mark 2. Touching hundreds of lives per day, we believe God has great plans for this mission.

Goals:

Offer medical, dental and laypersons the opportunity to serve the people of Juarez, Mexico through medical missions.
Provide medical and dental care to the poor of Juarez, Mexico by partnering with local El Paso and Juarez ministries.
Show the love of Jesus Christ through the talents that God has given us.

How do we do this?

By providing the opportunity for short term medical mission trips to Juarez, Mexico since 2003. We partner with local doctors and ministries to provide outpatient medical care to isolated desert and urban communities which lack basic medical care. Our goal in 2005 is to expand our outreach into improving the hearing and dental health of the people of Juarez. Also in the plans for 2005 and 2006 is the development of a surgical mission in ENT and plastic surgery.

What is it like?

Outpatient clinics are staffed on Monday-Thursday of each trip week from 0900 to about 1700. You can come and work everyday or pick the days you would like to work. We see about 100 patients a day at each site. Most patients need basic medical treatment for both routine (sinusitis, anemia) and Mexico specific (dysentery, parasites) conditions. We work with a great local doctor, Hugo Mendez, who has dedicated his life to the Lord by serving the people of Juarez. We routinely pray for nearly all of our patients and it is common that 1 or 2 will respond to the Gospel of Jesus Christ by accepting Him as their Savior before your eyes.

We travel, sleep and eat with the building teams of People Building People. At night, we worship and sleep under the stars of the desert.

Who can go?

Anyone who wants to do help touch people who need healing. We currently have medical and surgical doctors, nurses, a pharmacist, an audiologist and several dental professionals involved. We also use laypersons to work in our pharmacy, check patients in to the clinic and do eye and hearing screens.

What do I bring?

Mainly a desire to get out of your comfort zone for God and minister for people who need physical and spiritual healing. We encourage medical professionals to bring their own equipment (i.e. stethoscopes, otoscopes). Please review the Things to Bring checklist. If you have access to any medical supplies or equipment please contact us.

Do I need to know Spanish?

It is certainly great if you do know Spanish, but it is not required. We have interpreters that assist us with both medical and spiritual issues.
