NOVA Hope for Haiti provides sustained medical care in the southwest of Haiti. We provide care in two adjoining communities: the town of Cavaillon, Haiti and the village of Boileau, Haiti.

NOVA provides medical care in two ways:

1) NOVA Medical Missions
NOVA sends teams of volunteer doctors, nurses, translators, and helpers every 6 to 12 months to Cavaillon, Haiti and we conduct week-long immediate care clinics open to all adults and children in need. We convert a community center which is lent to us by the Catholic church in Cavaillon into a full service clinic where sick people can come, they are signed in, they have their vital signs checked, they are examined by one of our doctors and they are given any prescription medicines that they need. We fully stock our own pharmacy for these clinics. We typically have 6-8 doctors on any given mission with a mix of adult providers and pediatricians. Typically in a week we will see over 500-600 patients. NOVA has been doing this since 2002 and we have sent 20 successful medical missions.

2) NOVA’s permanent clinic in Haiti
NOVA runs a clinic out of two facilities: Our new building in Cavallon, Haiti and another clinic in Boileau, Haiti. These are staffed with two doctors, three nurses, a lab technician and a pharmacist. We also have a clinic administrator to oversee the non-medical aspect of NOVA, including reporting back to Board of Directors each month. These are the only paid staff at NOVA Hope for Haiti, and the staff all come from the southwest of Haiti, the area we serve. Our clinic is open five days per week, with the staff splitting time between the two locations all year long. The clinic also has it’s own fully stocked pharmacy and we dispense medication to our patients ourselves. Our patients are charged a nominal fee to see our doctor and another nominal price to purchase their medicines. This is to give value to the medical care the people provide by not having it be a completely free. Our prices are adjusted to the means of the general population and our staff is empowered to discount or waive fees completely for people who absolutely can’t afford it. NOVA collaborates in this venture with the Haitian Pilgrims, from Highland Village, Texas.

It costs NOVA about $124,000 USD to operate this clinic including staff salaries, medications and supplies as well as building maintenance and security.
