Aid

Poverty, malnutrition, and disease are a fact of life in many parts of Honduras. To make matters worse, healthcare is limited, especially for those who lack financial resources. People travel on buses or walk on dirt roads for hours to seek treatment at the Manos Amigas clinic. No one is turned down because they can not pay. Serving at the Crossroads is committed to ensuring the clinic has the necessary equipment, medicine, and supplies needed to treat and care for the patients that walk through the doors.

We organize medical and dental brigades from the U.S. who spend one to two weeks at a time augmenting the clinic staff and providing care in specialities such as pediatrics, OBGYN, internal medicine, surgery, audiology, and dental restoration. If a person needs care beyond what can be provided at the clinic, we work through our network of partners in Honduras and the U.S. to find the resources to provide the necessary treatment.

Inform

While the medical staff at the Manos Amigas clinic is well-trained, there are still techniques and procedures they can learn from their American counterparts. Each brigade that provides care at the clinic, works side-by-side with the Honduran staff, often teaching as they work.

Serving at the Crossroads also provides specialists to conduct classes on site in areas such as midwifery, inhalation therapy, audiology, and endodontics. We also ensure that the staff knows how to operate and maintain the equipment we provide.

Cases arise from time-to-time that require specialized skills. Serving at the Crossroads has a network of medical specialists in the U.S. who consult with the Manos Amigas staff if needed.

Empower

Through mentoring from Serving at the Crossroads and training from U.S. health care professionals, the resident staff has expanded the programs and care it provides to the local population.

The Manos Amigas staff has built a reputation in the community for providing high-quality care and treating patients with compassion and respect. Everyday they are working to improve the quality of life for those in need.
