About the Opportunity

Work in the Clinic provides the opportunity to hone clinical skills in an environment with limited resources and technical services. The participant will face a unique set of challenges and must be adaptive in diagnosing and treating patients. There are two types of opportunities for physicians:

Long-term (4 weeks minimum) rotations through the RVPC for pediatric attendings and third-year pediatric residents, and
Short-term posts available to pediatric specialists, neonatologists, obstetricians/gynecologists, and anesthesiologists

These are an unpaid, volunteer positions. Global Healing provides housing and medical evacuation insurance to all physician volunteers. The volunteer is responsible for transportation costs, food and incidental expenses while on-site.

Student internship

Global Healing’s Health Education & Advocacy Liaisons (HEAL) student internship is open to all advanced undergraduate students, providing a unique opportunity to experience pediatric medicine and community health through the Roatán Volunteer Pediatric Clinic (RVPC) in Roatán, Honduras.

As part of the American and Honduran medical team, student interns assist with patient registration and other duties at the RVPC for one month or longer. Outside of clinic, student interns may volunteer with local community organizations or carry out their own independent projects. The opportunity is ideal for undergraduates, but may also fulfill non-clinical elective requirements for medical students.
