Description:

As a medical volunteer abroad with Projects Abroad, you can join a Medicine & Healthcare Project to help prepare yourself for a career in general medicine, dentistry, nursing, midwifery, public health, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, or nutrition. Our medical internships are built to varying levels of experience, from those with interest before university to medical students. You can choose from a variety of programs in developing countries which run from one to four weeks or more at any time of the year.

A Medicine & Healthcare internship with Projects Abroad is ideal for those looking to boost their resumes by broadening their clinical, procedural, and cultural skills in a medical environment.

At your placement, you will experience a setting where medical professionals work with limited resources and equipment. Here, you will also be able to observe conditions, illnesses, and different methods of treatment that you would not otherwise see in North America. Many interns also have the opportunity to put their basic medical skills to practice by providing important healthcare services on outreach programs in rural communities.

Interning on a Medical Program with Projects Abroad

We will work with you to find an internship abroad that suits your level of experience. When you arrive at your destination, we will meet you at the airport and give you a comprehensive induction of your local area, including introducing you to the community where you will be working and the host family you will be living with. Once your placement begins, your designated supervisor and our Medical Coordinator will meet with you regularly. Our staff are available for support 24/7.

Although there are no requirements in most cases, there will be some Medicine & Healthcare programs where a certain level of experience and/or language skills is required in order to join.

Organizational Base: Toronto, Ontario

Other Programs: Projects in Dentistry, Allied Health Specialties, Teaching, Conservation and Environment, Law and Human Rights
