Description:

In response to the Gospel Call of Jesus Christ, the Joliet Diocese Partnership In Mission seeks to form servants for the work of missions and justice as we reach out in service, relief, and friendship to our brothers and sisters around the globe.

Vision Picture

We imagine ever-increasing opportunities to form servants for missions and to serve the world’s poor. While tending to and strengthening our present mission relationships in Bolivia, the Philippines, Kenya, the Navajo, and disaster-stricken communities across our own nation, we seek to create new local partnerships with parishes, ministries, religious communities, and others as we reach out around the world to form new global partnerships in our mutual efforts to serve the poorest of the poor. We have sent hundreds upon hundreds on short-term missions over the years. But we imagine even more. In a diocese of over 600,000 members gathered in 120 parishes we see the day when every parish will be a sending community, not only for short-term missions, but for long-term ones, as well. We see the day when every parish will have at least one ful- time missioner serving in some distant land. We see the day when we will be present to the poor, not only in a handful of countries, but in many. We imagine a day when the Church of Joliet will be known as a Missionary Church. We look to the day when the poorest of the poor, wherever they may be found, will know the touch of a missioner sent by the Joliet Diocese Partnership in Mission.
